Business Continuity Policy
The purpose of this policy is to outline the plan in place to mitigate the impact felt in the event of a business interruption or failure..
This policy applies to all participants enrolled on a course with the TEFL Society .
- Critical Business Processes
1.1 Access to course material provided through the TEFL Society Website
1.2 Access to an effective marking team to provide consistent and punctual feedback regarding assessment outcomes, including markers and internal quality assurance staff
1.3 Customer Service and Teacher Training staff capable of assisting learners through their courses.
1.4 Ability to issue certificates
1.5 For Level 3 and Level 5 TESOL courses only. Ability to pay registration fee with the awarding body upon registration.
- Safeguarding the Interests of Learners
2.1 In the event of a business interruption or failure, we will take the following steps to safeguard the interests of learners:
2.1.1 We will communicate with learners, staff, and relevant stakeholders as soon as possible to inform them of the situation and the steps being taken to mitigate the impact. This will include emails with relevant timelines laying out actions being taken
2.1.2 We will explore alternative delivery methods to minimise the impact on learners. If necessary, the TEFL Society will transfer participants to other training centres that can accommodate them.
2.1.3 If we are unable to deliver training courses or transfer participants to other training centres, the TEFL Society will issue refunds to affected learners.
2.1.4 The TEFL Society will prioritise the restoration of critical business processes and resources to ensure the resumption of normal operations as soon as possible.
- Staff Training
3.1 The TEFL Society will provide training to staff on the business continuity plan to assist them to follow procedures to ensure the interruptions are mitigated for the participants. Staff Training will include but is not limited to:
3.1.1 Templates for effective student communication
3.1.2 Assisting with the new delivery systems
3.1.3 Conflict resolution strategies
4. Policy Ownership and Responsibilities
4.1 The Managing Director, or nominated delegate, has overall responsibility for activation of this policy.
4.2 Operational responsibilities may be delegated to relevant managers, including responsibility for:
- Participant communications
- IT recovery and systems access
- academic operations and marking continuity
- customer support continuity
- awarding body liaison
- finance and refund administration
4.3 Staff are expected to cooperate with continuity arrangements and follow reasonable management instructions during disruption events.
